Dermatology

Animals are susceptible to hundreds of skin disorders and it is often best to choose preventative approaches, such as flea and tick control. Preventative strategies employed elsewhere to control other disease systems such as vaccinations, are often not applicable to dermatology. Vaccinations however are available for certain skin disorders, and may offer a curative solution for control of skin allergy for example. Veterinarians in this specialty receive advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of various animal skin, ear, hair, nail, hoof and mouth disorders.

Some problems that may require a dermatologist include:

  • Allergy Work UP
  • Chronic Otitis Externa and/or Media (ear inflammation)
  • Non Inflammatory Alopecia
  • Resistant Parasitic Diseases
  • Resistant Infections
  • Video Otoscopy
  • Etc…
