Dr. Saskia Quante is a specialist in Internal Medicine and one of the few Internists in Hong Kong. She is a Diplomate of the American College for Veterinary Internal Medicine for Small Animals since 2010. To become a specialist she was trained an additional 4 years (internship & residency) above and beyond her veterinary degree in Internal Medicine at the Vetsuisse faculty at the University of Zurich, Switzerland according to the strict guidelines of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. She gained the Diplomate status after passing two rigorous exams.
Her areas of expertise are infectious diseases, blood, kidney, liver, pancreas, gastrointestinal, airways & hormonal diseases of dogs & cats. Her passion is complex hormonal diseases and she has published several research articles & case studies in this area. Dr. Quante regularly provides continuing education through lectures given to to local veterinarians. Her doctoral thesis and main clinical research related to adrenal pheochromocytoma and Cushing's disease in dogs. Her daily work includes extended internal medicine consultations, advanced blood testing, x-ray, ultrasound, CT, endoscopy and more.
Dr. Saskia Quante graduated from University in Veterinary Science from Berlin, in Germany, in 2002. She started work in a mixed practice in North Ireland, then worked several years in the UK in a small animal clinic before she did her residency in Switzerland. She has lived and worked in Hong Kong for the past 6 years and was very excited about joining the highly motivated team of general practioners and specialists of PAVC in December 2015.
Seeing the high commitment of Hong Kong's pet owners, she is dedicated to the education of pet owners about all diagnostic & therapeutic options available, allowing them to make well-informed decisions for their beloved pets.
