Dr. Phillip C.K. Mak
Honorary Senior Fellow, Faculty of Veterinary Science (The University of Melbourne)
Phillip graduated from the veterinary faculty of the University of Sydney in 1982 and started his own practice, currently named Peace Avenue Veterinary Clinic in 1984. In the early days of Lai Chi Kok Zoo, he treated all sorts of animals, including tigers and camels. He is a general practitioner in small animals and has taken certificate courses in ophthalmology, surgery and orthopedics.
He obtained his Masters degree through Murdoch University in 1996, and became a member of the Australian college in small animal internal medicine in 1997. He is a certified Penn Hip operator, listed TTA, TPLO and THR surgeon. He completed a course in tracheal stenting in 2006. He was a member of the HK Veterinary Surgeons Board from 2001 to 2006 and was invited to be an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Melbourne University in 2008.
He is more than happy in assisting new graduates and veterinary students to gain more hands-on experience by giving them an opportunity to work and see practice in PAVC, which can provide a real-time professional experience and a nice working environment for them.
