Aside from conventional medicine, our clinic has complementary medicine used to support conventional medical and surgical therapies. The purpose behind complementary medicine is to provide owners and patients an extra avenue to health, disease treatment and prevention.
Herbal medicine can be used in a range of conditions. Common areas include skin problems, cancer adjunctive therapy, hormonal disorders, digestive problems, chronic pain, musculoskeletal problems, urinary tract problems, geriatric illness and other chronic disorders such as seizures. Acupuncture may be recommended at the same time because the two therapies have a synergistic effect.
Many Chinese herbal products have been found to be contaminated with drugs, plant toxins or heavy metals. We use herbal formulations that have been adapted and adjusted for use in animals and they are imported from Canada. All the ingredients are regularly reviewed and regarded as safe by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). The ingredients are purchased from the only Chinese herbal manufacturer to have achieved certification of their products as organic by U.S. FDA.
